Minister Rabbitte visits Regional Equine Therapy Hub
We were delighted to welcome Minister Anne Rabbitte TD, Minister of State for Disability, to the Regional Equine Therapy Hub, Kilcoon.
The centre was established as a day service in 2008 and provides horse-riding and equine related therapies for people in day and residential services of Stewarts Care. Individuals can also avail of a mixture of Day Service programmes such as life-skills training, vocational skills and community resources, depending on their wants, needs and individualised plans.
Minister Rabbitte enjoyed a tour of the centre including arena and stables, as well as the pottery workshop and the horticulture room which provides a host of opportunities for individuals to grow their own vegetables and bedding plants among other projects.
She also met with staff who outlined the plans for a proposed new expansion of the centre. This expansion will create significantly more capacity in the centre, allowing it to serve the wider community population, including families, children attending mainstream and special schools and individuals attending other disability organisations in the region. The planned expansion, also include the development of alternative respite facilities.
We would like to thank Minister Rabbitte for taking the time to come and visit Kilcloon and hope to welcome her back again to see the new centre in the future.
